ThinkHost is a socially responsible web hosting company which is very proud to be powered 100% by renewable energy. They provide special support for non-profit companies and community groups focused on social responsibility.
While not directly supplied by solar and wind power, ThinkHost purchases energy tags from accredited renewable energy companies such as Green-e. The energy while not directly used by ThinkHost still allows them to be carbon neutral.
Hosting Plan
ThinkHost offers a single hosting plan for $7.95 per month. The plan has a 14 day money back guarantee if for any reason you are not satisfied with the services. The plan features include:
Unlimited storage space and data transfer
Multiple domain and sub domains within a single account
Secure Telnet (ssh) access
Unlimited email accounts and webmail interface
Anti-spam and anti-virus systems
A wide range of programming language support is also available such as:
PHP 5
Perl 5
Ruby on Rails
FastCGI
Customers can also choose to include additional features free of cost via the automated installers. These features include shopping carts, forums, photo gallery, blogs (Wordpress) and content management systems (Joomla). Those customers who are not sure about the interface of their site can use a number of templates to get started.
All websites are hosted in ThinkHost's own data center with UPS and generator backups, N+1 HVAC systems and 100% uptime guarantee. However customer reviews posted on external websites call this claim into question with multiple clients complaining about extended outages.
Customer Support & Service
ThinkHost provides an online ticket system if you face any problems with their service. However there is no phone number provided for instant answers which is something that is sorely missed. A knowledgebase is available on the website which provides information on a range of topics such as promotions and marketing to email setup and billing.
One thing that is missing on the ThinkHost's website is customer testimonials. This is quite surprising for a company that prides it self on its close interactions with its customers and community focus.
Affiliate Program
ThinkHost pays up to $100 per referral to customers signed up for its affiliate program. They also have a 2nd tier referral program in which affiliates can refer other webmasters. You will get paid for any referral brought through that webmaster. In order to make sure you are correctly credited with the commission ThinkHost tracks IP addresses and stores cookies for up to 10 years, so even if you referrals don't immediately sign up, you still get paid. All referral checks are mailed out on the 15th of the month.
ThinkHost's Earnings Per Hundred Clicks (EPC) rate is listed as being $120 in February 2008. However no mention is made of current EPC rates.

ThinkHost was founded in 1999 and is committed to provide socially responsible services. They run a number of green initiatives such as planting a tree for each of their customers and encouraging telecommuting among their employees to reduce carbon emissions. They are focused on helping other companies that promote socially responsible ideas by offering special discounts to non-profit and progressive companies.
They pride themselves on their personal involvement with their customer and a small bio for each of the members is given on their website.
